Poly(lactic acid) particles (PLA particles)

• consist of poly(D,L-lactic acid) with a molecular weight of 17.000 Da,

• are available with diameters of 250 nm and 500 nm in small size distributions and with mean diameters of 2 µm, 30 µm and 100 µm in broader size distributions,

• can be applied in the field of drug encapsulation in connection with a controlled drug release (The half-life time of the beads under in-vivo conditions mainly depends on the molecular weight of the polymers and increases with the molecular weight of the polymer.),

• are available with COOH or NH₂ groups or with collagen on the surface,

• can be loaded with drugs on request.
